Temporary Car Insurance Quote. Do you have any idea of the list of car insurance companies? How many of the following companies come to mind when you think about vehicle insurance?
First of all, Farmers Insurance is a major player in the insurance game. They were founded in 1927 and currently have $10 billion in assets. While the insurance industry as a whole took a major hit in the financial crisis of 2008, they survived and thrived. But, their customer service record is pretty spotty and they\’ve been ranked last in a couple of major magazine\’s surveys. Farmers Insurance also owns 21st Century Insurance.
Allstate is the largest publicly held insurer in the United States. They have revenues of almost $30 billion a year. In 2006, Business Week ran an article criticizing how Allstate frequently denied its policy holders legitimate benefits. In 2007, CNN picked up on this theme, but said that all major insurance companies were delaying and denying payments.
Ironically AIG Casualty – The American Insurance Group – was founded in Shanghai, China in 1919. Now, though, they\’re located in New York City. AIG was hit hard in the 2008 financial crisis and had to be bailed out twice by the government. Right after the bailout, they held a corporate retreat which cost $441,000 and included spas and golf outings. AIG also owns the Manchester United soccer club.
The next on our list of car insurance companies is Nationwide. Nationwide started in 1926 offering auto insurance exclusively to Ohio Farmers. Soon, they expanded to other states and then to people other than farmers. Now, it is a major car and property insurer with revenues of $25 billion per year. They are seen as a progressive company which supports gay and minority causes.
Liberty Mutual is an international entity. In addition to serving Americans, they have holdings in many other countries ranging from Argentina to Vietnam. Founded in 1912, the company has assets of nearly $30 billion. Another thing Liberty Mutual is known for is their research institute for safety. This runs field and laboratory studies which help to make the workplace safer.

Many drivers are using child safety seats improperly, according to a study released by New Safe Kids USA on September, 15, 2011. Data that came from 79,000 child-safety-seat inspections showed that that less than a third of people use the important top tether that hooks the child seat to the vehicle and when these top tethers are used, only 59 percent are being used correctly.
The study shared that even though parents are attempting to educate themselves on proper seatbelt use, and that they are getting better in the proper use of child safety seats, there is room for improvement. This study has been drawing attention to a very important time for safety, and that is National Child Passenger Safety Week, which begins on September, 18, 2011. Safe Kids USA will host more than 400 car-seat checkup events during National Child Passenger Safety Week and those interested can visit www.safekids.org for more information.
Safety belt use laws are becoming more and more strict, according to Highway Safety Research and Communications, The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute. As of September, 2011, mandatory safety belt laws in all states except New Hampshire, have been put into place. In some states, these laws cover front-seat occupants only; however seat belt laws in 26 states and the District of Columbia cover all rear-seat passengers as well.
